This month’s Over The Biscuit Tin is with the one and only Anne Unsworth.
Who are you and where do you work?
Hi, I’m Anne, I am Head of In-store Sales at Tactical Solutions. I have been part of the Tactical team for 14 years, working my way up the ranks. I started working here as an Account Manager, I was then promoted to a divisional manager on our Heinz solus team which I then went on to head up until 2013. I was then promoted to head of channel working with a number of solus clients and then moved to the in store sales team in Sept 2014. My current role definitely is my most challenging yet but the job satisfaction has been huge as I’ve seen the team develop and the channel gain significant sales growth. I absolutely love working with my team and I know it’s cliché to say but every day is different.
What do you do on a daily basis?
It depends on what day it is and the time of year, I manage a large team but have two colleagues who report directly into me. It’s our role to review and evaluate the results by the wider team and ensure we are always maxmising and delivering amazing results for our clients.
I have also been incremental in our new business approach. I find this such an exciting process, and it’s a great way to work with all the team to really demonstrate our skills and expertise within the retail and FMCG industry.
My day usually starts around 6am and finishes around 8pm, I like to get my work done in the hours outside of normal office time, I like to ensure my team get as much of my time as they need, coupled with client and internal meetings and strategic brainstorms during the day it often gets to 6.30pm before I catch my breath!
What’s your favourite thing about Tactical Solutions?
I really love the people at Tactical. I’ve been there for more than 14 years so you get to know a fair few faces over the years. The team truly celebrates you being yourself, no idea is shouted down. Everyone is giving his or her chance to develop within the business (I am an example of this).
What’s your favourite FMCG brand?
I’ve worked in the FMCG world for so long now it’s hard to choose one that stands out as my favourite. They are all unique in their own way but I love the fact that at Tactical Solutions we work with many brands from Innocent to Duracell, Kettle Chips to Henkel.
What makes a field sales agency stand apart?
It’s all about understanding your client’s need before they even realise. We want to know the ins and outs of a brief, looking for how we can improve our service and client’s offering.
We build strong relationships with clients and each retailer, which has helped us ensure we achieve the results we do every day. We are always listening, whether it’s to our client, retailer or our team out in the field. This is essential for our own development, as well as ensuring our clients receive the best possible results.
Top biscuit choice with a brew?
A chocolate hobnob everytime.
